Jason P. Crutchfield

Speaker | Author | Immensum Press

Whether navigating the intelligence community or the ocean floor as a certified commercial diver, Jason P. Crutchfield has spent his career operating in environments where attention to detail isn't optional.

A former U.S. Army Ranger who served with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Jason went on to hold senior leadership roles across the United States Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Energy — work that demanded the same vigilance he now brings to one of the most overlooked threats facing modern infrastructure: the debris field orbiting our planet.

Jason speaks on the hidden risks of space debris, the systems that quietly keep modern life running, and what happens when those systems are threatened. Drawing on his military background, decades of government service, and his research for Space Debris: Clearing the Final Frontier, he translates complex orbital science and policy into conversations that resonate with general audiences, students, industry professionals, and fellow veterans alike.

He holds an MBA from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Speaking Topics

1. The Invisible Threat: Why Space Debris Matters to Everyone on Earth
A general-audience talk exploring how the growing field of orbital debris quietly threatens the systems modern life depends on — GPS, weather forecasting, global communications, and national security — and why this unseen crisis demands attention now, before it's too late.

2. From the Ranger Regiment to Earth's Orbit: A Career Watching the Systems No One Else Sees
A personal/career-narrative talk connecting his military experience, along with years in the Intelligence Community, DoD, and DoE, to his current work — built around vigilance, situational awareness, and the protection of what most people take for granted.

3. Clearing the Final Frontier: Policy, Technology, and the Race to Save Our Orbital Environment
A deeper-dive talk for industry, policy, or academic audiences covering international treaties, debris-removal technology, and the cascade-effect risk (Kessler Syndrome) if no action is taken.

4. What We Leave Behind: Lessons on Responsibility from the Battlefield to Outer Space
A reflective/leadership-style talk tying his military service, intelligence career, and key leadership roles across multiple government agencies to broader questions of stewardship, responsibility, and the legacy of human activity — applicable to corporate, military, or university audiences.

5. Mission-Driven Leadership: From the Battlefield to the Boardroom
A talk for veteran-owned businesses and entrepreneurial communities drawing on decades of military service, senior intelligence leadership, and the discipline of protecting critical systems under pressure — exploring how the mission-focused mindset that defines military culture translates directly into building resilient, purpose-driven organizations.
